Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. and Shimizu Construction Co. began testing an aquaculture plant and plankton cultivation system, which induced solar rays directly to the seabed via a buoy topped with a solar collector. ... AMETEK Offshore Co. Ltd. planned to supply a Phantom heavy-duty ROV, manufactured by Deep Ocean Engineering, to Fulgor Mare for research in Antarctica. The ROV was rated to 1,000 feet. ... The world’s largest, deepest coldwater ocean pipe system at the time was deployed offshore Hawaii. The $7 million pipe, 5,700 feet and 40 inches in diameter, supplied seawater from depths of 2,150 feet.

1997. Using its new Vibrocore-CPT rig, Danish Geotechnical Institute executed a survey of a 100-kilometer-long corridor for a possible pipeline from the Danish west coast to offshore.
