Ron Allen has been appointed director of engineering at L-3 Klein Associates Inc. (Salem, New Hampshire), where he will oversee the engineering design and development of sonar systems, the company said in July. Allen previously worked as the engineering manager for the Geophysical Products Group at Teledyne Benthos.

SevenCs (Hamburg, Germany) has appointed Bjoern Roehlich as sales director. Roehlich, who started his career as a German Navy officer, has experience in ECDIS, vessel traffic services and simulator markets.

Mike Chapman, founder of MECCO Inc., in July joined Sonardyne Inc. (Houston, Texas) as a sales agent. Based in Duvall, Washington, Chapman has more than 30 years of experience in the marine and oceanographic industries. He will focus on developing business in western North America.

Fred Maguire in July joined Verrex (Mountainside, New Jersey) as senior sales executive, focused on providing the firmís suite of audiovisual products to the oil and gas market. He was most recently director of sales and marketing at Flotation Technologies Inc.

Professor Mark Bailey in August became director of the Natural Environment Research Councilís (NERC) Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH). In 2002, he was appointed director of CEHís Oxford, England, site before becoming science director for the CEH Biodiversity Programme in 2003 and acting director of CEH in 2011.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in July appointed Jeffrey Fernandez to the position of chief financial officer (CFO) and vice president of finance. He had worked for nearly 30 years with the University of California, most recently serving as the CFO of Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

Tracey Moriarty joined the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) as the public affairs program manager for the agencyís Herndon, Virginia, office. Moriarty previously oversaw outreach and media engagement for the U.S. Navyís energy and environmental policy and programs.

UTEC (Houston, Texas) in July named Ranald Blair as chief surveyor of the group. Located in UTECís Aberdeen, Scotland, office, he will work on global standardization of operating procedures and products, and associated training of personnel.

Ron Vollenga of Outsource-IT Management has been named secretary of Broadband@Sea for HME (Rotterdam, Netherlands). Vollenga will coordinate the activities and events on behalf of HME, which remains the owner of the platform. Outsource-IT has been involved in Broadband@Sea activities since the project phase.
