Richardson

Zervas
Stefan Richardson was appointed development manager of WASSP Ltd.ís (Auckland, New Zealand) multibeam sonar products in February. He has previously worked for Raytheon Marine, DERA Sea Systems, Raymarine and Navico in marine product and development roles.


Orbit Communication Systems Ltd. (Netanya, Israel) appointed Kevin Zervas director of sales and business development for satellite communications in North America. He has worked in the maritime VSAT market for about 20 years.


Ocean Power Technologies Inc. (Pennington, New Jersey) appointed Timothy Stiven managing director of U.K. and European business. He began his new position in March. Angus Norman has stepped down as chief executive, and Stiven will take over his duties as managing director. Stiven has a background in marine engineering and sustainable energy.


Srihari Gowri Shankar and Brian Cox began in January their positions as design engineers at Markey Machinery (Seattle, Washington). Shankar has a background in dynamics and control engineering. Cox has a background in computer-aided engineering and human-powered submarine design.


Esriís (Redlands, California) chief scientist, Dawn J. Wright, received in February the Association of American Geographers (AAG) Presidential Achievement Award. The AAG cited her work in developing ocean-mapping geospatial technology standards and promoting GIS for marine research and sustainable ocean policies.


Chris Ward, previously SonTekís (San Diego, California) global business development manager, has been promoted to general manager for SonTek and Aanderaa, as well as coastal/ocean segment leader of YSI. SonTekís director of operations, Hakan Erdem, was promoted to managing director. David Velasco, previously SonTekís oceanographic application specialist, was named product line manager for all SonTek products. All appointments were made in February.


Offshore Installation Services Ltd. (Houston, Texas) has appointed Jeremy Punnett global president. He will be based in Aberdeen, Scotland, and be responsible for project management and installation services. Punnett was previously with Bibby Offshore.


Norman Di Perno was appointed managing director of BMT Cordah (Aberdeen, Scotland), the company announced in February. He succeeds David Sell, who is now technical director.
