Jalving
MARIS (Tønsberg, Norway) appointed in January Ralf Pluch as sales director for Europe. Pluch joins the company from ExNC Entwicklungs- und Vertriebs GmbH, which he founded. He will target sales in the European markets excluding Scandinavia.

Kongsberg Maritime (Kongsberg, Norway) in January named Bjorn Jalving as executive vice president of its subsea division and a member of its management group. Jalving replaces Rolf Arne Klepaker, who is moving to a role working with strategic projects.

Marport Deep Sea Technologies Inc. (St. John's, Canada) in December named Cyril McKelvie as its president and CEO. McKelvie, who has more than 25 years of management experience, succeeds co-founder Karl Kenny, who will be chief strategy officer.

Tor A. Svanes, the founder of C-Map Norway, joined NAVTOR (Egersund, Norway) as managing director in January. Svanes, known for his contributions to the development of ECDIS and electronic charting, will replace Hilton Cowie, who will take the position of business development manager.

The American Geophysical Union awarded medals to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution scientists Henry Dick and Joseph Pedlosky in December. Dick was chosen for his work on mantle melting and ocean crust formation along global ocean ridges. Pedlosky was selected for his research on ocean circulation.

Atlas (Aberdeen, Scotland) announced in December that it has appointed Natavan Askerova as account director for clients in the Middle East's oil and gas industry. Askerova will be based at Atlas' Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, office.

Germanischer Lloyd (Hamburg, Germany) in December named Christian Freiherr von Oldershausen as senior vice president of global sales, a newly created position. He has more than 30 years of experience in the mariime industry, most recently as managing director for Deutsche Seewert.

Physical oceanographer Jimmie Pelton has joined Horizon Marine Inc. (Marion, Massachusetts) as route watch operations manager in November. He has served for more than 23 years in the U.S. Navy.

Transocean Ltd. (Geneva, Switzerland) announced in January that Ricardo Rosa will step down as executive vice president and chief financial officer. He is expected to retire after a transition period.

Marinalife (Baltimore, Maryland) in December named Tina Kelsey regional sales representative for Georgia, Connecticut and South Carolina. She owns Kelsey Creative, an advertising agency that represents marine businesses.
