North American Hydrographic Conferences
For the past couple of decades, North American hydrographic conferences have been held annually, alternating between U.S. Hydro conferences in odd-numbered years, hosted by The Hydrographic Society of America (THSOA), and Canadian Hydrographic conferences in even-numbered years, hosted by The Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS), and more recently by the Canadian Hydrographic Association (CHA), the Canadian counterpart to THSOA.
CHA is the only national hydrographic organization in Canada, embracing the disciplines of hydrographic surveying, marine cartography, marine geodesy, offshore exploration, and tidal studies.
CHA is formally affiliated with the Canadian Institute of Geomatics (CIG) and informally associated with THSOA.
Traditionally, North American Hydrographic conferences attract attendees from the Canadian and U.S. governments, industry and academia involved in hydrographic and related disciplines. In addition, several delegates from Europe, Asia and Africa often find their way to our conferences.
The conference will include workshops on current topics in hydrographic surveying and a full schedule of technical sessions on the latest issues, developments and applications in hydrography.
Half- and full-day workshops are being hosted by HYPACK Inc. (Middletown, Connecticut), Chesapeake Technology Inc. (Mountain View, California), Esri (Redlands, California) and QPS (Zeist, Netherlands), among others. Visit the CHC 2014 website at www.chc2014.ca for complete workshop program and sign-up details.
The city of St. Johnís is located on a natural harbor. The Sheraton Hotel is located just a short walk from floats that are ideal for mooring small vessels. The vessels can take several delegates at a time on a short cruise around the harbor to demonstrate the latest in hydrographic technologies. Be sure to sign up with the exhibitors early, as these on-the-water demos tend to fill up quickly.
