ST Conference PreviewCommercial Marine Expo
Commercial Marine Expo (CME), a regional trade show serving commercial marine and commercial fishing markets on the Atlantic seaboard, will return to Virginia at the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton, Virginia, June 12 to 13. CME rotates annually between Virginia and New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Port of Hampton Roads
For the first time, CME will be held in the Hampton Roads Convention Center. The Port of Hampton Roads is the largest port complex in the U.S., encompassing Norfolk, Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk and Virginia Beach in Virginia. Commercial Marine Expo is the only trade show representing this bustling maritime marketplace.
Hampton Roads has a robust presence in every key market segment, including major U.S. port authorities and engineers; shipbuilding and repair; marine engineers and architects; owners and operators of—and service providers to—tug and push boats; commercial fishing boats; passenger and vehicle ferries; patrol, police and fire boats; excursion vessels; military and U.S. Coast Guard vessels; homeland security vessels; diving and salvage vessels; and research and education vessels.
CME attendees are U.S. Coast Guard and military personnel, commercial vessel owners and operators, passenger vessel owners and operators, tug boat owners and operators, commercial fishermen, fish processors, charter boat owners and operators, shipyards and commercial boat builders, engineers and architects, equipment manufacturers and distributors, port authorities and port engineers, harbormasters, marina operators, marine surveyors, military buyers and government officials, and others affiliated with the marine industry.
At CME, attendees can compare, price and purchase the latest equipment and gear. They will have the opportunity to see technical experts in search of solutions to the individual challenges they face, and the newest technology and innovations.
New for 2013 is the CME Boat Pavilion, which will feature commercial-grade vessels of all types and sizes. The pavilion will debut on the show floor in the heart of the main exhibit hall.
Commercial Marine Expo brings qualified marine buyers and sellers together in a unique, business-to-business environment in the heart of the Mid-Atlantic commercial marine industry. It is an opportunity for the industry’s leading suppliers and manufacturers to showcase new products and technology before this audience of hard-to-reach coastal and blue-water maritime professionals.
Many exhibitors have reported positive results from the show, attributable to the quality of the attendees. “It’s the quality of the foot traffic, not necessarily the quantity,” said Ernest Ellis Jr., the president of Sea-Fire Marine (Baltimore, Maryland), a manufacturer of fire-suppression equipment and a CME 2011 exhibitor.
