We welcome contributed articles concerning a variety of marine subjectsfrom semi-technical descriptions of new developments in instrumentation or techniques for acquiring and processing data, to general discussions about current marine events and policies-all written and bylined by the experts and leaders in these areas. Our readers want to see articles that describe the involvement of those instruments, systems or services that have satisfied a need or solved a problem. Sea Technology articles deal with the background of a problem and the development of new technologies, or modification of existing techniques, to meet users' requirements. FORMAT
Our magazine is prepared using Apple Mac G5® computers via
QuarkXpress® 6.5 desktop publishing software. We request that
all articles be submitted either via e-mail to oceanbiz@sea-technology.com
or mailed on a CD in Microsoft Word.
Please send only PC-formatted discs.
Please do not embed graphic images or photographs within the manuscript
text!
Send all graphics as separate TIFF, EPS or JPEG files.
AUTHOR INFORMATION
Due to space constraints, we cannot have more than three authors
per article. All other contributors can be listed in an acknowledgements
section at the end of the article. Biographical information about
the author(s) should be brief and concise (40 to 50 words), including
descriptions of current responsibilities, research interests,
accomplishments and prior related experience. Please include a
recent full-face photograph-passport type or clear snapshot.
GRAPHICS
Sea Technology includes only two to three graphics
with each article due to space limitations. We require good-quality
images that are interesting and action-oriented.
Our preference is electronic graphics that are 300 dpi or greater and at least 3" x 5". We can accept only TIFF, EPS or JPEG files. When sending color images, make sure they are in CMYK mode, not RGB. High-quality, clear line drawings, graphs and charts are also welcome-either as camera-ready art or as 300 dpi TIFF, EPS or JPEG files. Please avoid mixing background screens and typed callouts. Query first to be safe. All callouts or other text materials should be clear and readable if reduction to half-size (two magazine columns) or less is required.
Do not send graphics generated in MS Powerpoint or Word.
FTP SITE
If your graphics files (for article figures OR cover candidates)
are larger than 3 MB total, Sea Technology has an FTP site
where you can post your graphics so they do not clog up our e-mail.
Please contact us at 703.524.3136 or email us at oceanbiz@sea-technology.com for steps to upload your graphics and/or article to our FTP site
DEADLINES
All materials and editorial content are due approximately 30-45
days prior to the first day of an issue month. Any content
sent after the first of the month preceding the issue month will
be held for the next available issue.
POSTPONEMENTS
Editorial space restrictions occasionally force the temporary
postponement of articles scheduled for a particular issue. In
that event, every effort will be made to contact the principal
author for updates for revisions and to reschedule the article
in a subsequent issue.
COVER PHOTOGRAPHS
Sea Technology is proud of its long history of dramatic
covers. Editorial staff members are always on the look-out for
outstanding, eye-catching photographs of subjects that are appropriate
to the theme of each month's issue.

Technology covers should be sent as high-quality color

with the top quarter of the image area "clean" with a plain background
(clear sky, indistinct clouds, open water) to accommodate the
Sea Technology logo material.

Publication policy also prohibits the appearance of recognizable
individuals or commercial tradenames and logos as part of the
